Back in the Double Digits

It's only been a little over a month since my first half-marathon, but it feels like it's been forever!

I've been running 5 or 6 miles 3 days a week since then but I realized I really miss my long runs so I headed out for one today.

I'm super picky when it comes to running weather. I hate the cold and I hate the heat so there are only a few months of the year that I really enjoy running outside, usually from mid-March to mid-May, September and October.  Today, the weather was my idea of perfect: cool and overcast.

I ended up running 10 miles and it was awesome. I started out slowly because my legs were kind of stiff from yesterday's Pump, but I picked up the pace as I went along and I'm happy with my splits :)

1          11'02"/mi
2          10'54"/mi
3          10'50"/mi
4          10'33"/mi
5          10'18"/mi
6          10'20"/mi
7          10'14"/mi
8          10'09"/mi
9          10'12"/mi
10        10'30"/mi

I had some new music to listen to which made the run go by faster. I was browsing through ITunes the other day and came across "Red" by Dia Frampton.

Anyone remember her from last year's The Voice?

I was surprised to see she had an album out; I guess I would have expected them to promote it on the show this year...

Anyway, its really good! It's a good mix of pop tunes, with some dance-style and country songs thrown in. She even does a duet with Blake Shelton.

I also bought a new book for my IPod to keep me entertained on the elliptical tomorrow. I like a nice easy read at the gym so I thought this would be perfect.

Please tell my I'm not the only person over the age of 16 reading this series!

I was a huge The Hills fan and I'll admit to still watching reruns when its on!

I may or may not grow up someday ;)

Have you ever bought music from an artist on American Idol / The Voice / X Factor?

Do you still read teen lit?

  1. I'm not currently reading it but I totally would - and I'm 31. :) I love teen drama for some reason! I'm always anxious to get back to long runs too, it's so hard to give the body a rest. Sounds like you had ample time and taht you are ready!

    1. I'm so glad I'm not the only 31-year-old who still loves teen books :) I hadn't really planned on doing any long runs for a while since I'm not training for anything but they are my favorite so why not!

  2. I have read all of LC books. I think they are super cute. I am actually reading it too.
Great long run, my favorite runs tend to be the ones that are not planned on the calendar.
