Mine was great! I got to spend some time with my family and friends, watched a few movies, read, took my guitar out for the first time in ages, and, of course, got some good workouts in :)

I did my first double-digit run since the Reykjavik Half today. I joined in the virtual run hosted by Laura at Mommy Run Fast and completed 10 miles in a little under 2 hours. It was a really good run, even though it was way too hot for my liking by the end of it. I seriously cannot wait for the cooler weather to arrive!
Fall is my favorite season by far, and it's also my favorite time to race! I have 2 half-marathons coming up that I am really excited about!

So, this means I'm running 3 half-marathons in 3 months and I'm not entirely sure how to train. Since I don't really "race" races, meaning I stick to a comfortable pace, I don't think it will be overly taxing on my body. My plan is to stick to two 5 milers a week and a long run on the weekends, anywhere between 8 and 10 miles. But any suggestions are more than welcome!!
Do you have any Fall races planned?

You are such an inspiration! While I'm not ready to do races yet, I like your idea of just going at a comfortable pace and soaking up the whole experience.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, that is really sweet! I'm so glad to see you're blogging again :)
DeleteI love and am so jealous you're running races internationally!! That is so awesome! No fall races yet, maybe a half marathon.. We'll see
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I'm going to try to do a race wherever I travel from now on :)
DeleteThanks so much for participating!! Your plan sounds great- I think since you're not "racing" them, you'll be fine. I've never done an international race... that will be so fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, it's easier to power through when you tell yourself you're running a race :)
DeleteNice job on the virtual run! Super impressive with running 3 1/2s in 3 months. Your plan sounds good bc you'll be in kind of a constant taper too bc they're so close together. Have a great night! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much :) And I appreciate the input on my "plan"!
DeleteJust found your blog. Love it. I train exactly as you do. Two 5milers and one long run. I also walk 2days high millage to get ready for a3day 60 mile walk. So glad i found your blog thru the mommyrunfaster virtual race.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! I'm so glad you found my blog, thanks so much for commenting :) When is your 60 mile walk? Sounds interesting!

ReplyDeleteYou really should if you get a chance :) It's so much fun to run one in another country!
