Happy Friday everyone!
My plan for today’s workout was to go to the gym and spend
some time on the Arc trainer before BodyPump.
But, by the time I left work all I wanted to do was run. Believe me, as
much as I enjoy running, I rarely choose to do it when its not on my schedule. I am so happy I listened to my body though because this happened:
Mile Time Avg. Pace
1 10:08 10'08"/mi
2 19:54 9'46"/mi
3 29:50 9'56"/mi
4 39:22 9'32"/mi
5 48:54 9'32"/mi
Now, for all you speedy runners this probably looks
depressing ;) But those last two miles are the fastest I have ever run!!! Until
today, every time I tried to push pass 6.2 I would feel as though I lost all
control over my legs, but this time I was able to get to 6.5 without flying off
the treadmill. I guess this half-marathon training is starting to pay off :D
I wanted to get some strength training in today too so after my run I did the upper body portion of Cathe
Freidrich’s High Reps.
I always see
interesting looking strength workouts on blogs but I can’t seem to focus unless
I have an instructor in front me. If you’re
looking for a new workout, check out www.cathe.com. She has a huge library and the majority of them are available to download which is awesome because you don’t have to wait
for the DVD to arrive in the mail :)
American Idol
While I running my speedy-to-me miles, I watched last
night’s American Idol. I’m not really
invested in this season yet; I start caring more as time goes on and we get to
know the contestants. So far,
I’d say my favorites are Colton, Erika, Phillip,
and Shannon. I also think Skylar is fun and has lots of spunk, and Jeremy and
Jermaine are just sweeties. I’m not a
fan of Deandre or Heejun though.
That’s all for tonight! Hope you have a great weekend :D
Have you ever had a surprisingly great run? Who are your
favorite American Idol contestants so far?
Those are awesome mile paces! I'm very impressed! My goal is to one day, maybe, get to a sub-10 minute mile! I'm still super slow. But I still lap everybody who is sitting on the couch!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE surprisingly great runs. It's the greatest feeling and it's amazing what it can do for your mood! However, surprisingly bad runs are the exact opposite. I hate those!!!
You will get your sub-10 minute mile for sure!! And I love that quote - a mile is a mile, no matter how fast you run it :)
DeleteI just saw your comment on Healthier Happier Bear - I am running the NYC Half too! Hope your training is going well - see you in Central park!
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying hi :) Good luck on race day!
